Philosophy of Instruction

I believe in a multifaceted approach to private music instruction.  First: The primary focus is a positive, musically sound experience.  Music is a powerful and wonderful gift! While I do have high expectations for my students and their progress, at the forefront of our work will be a focus on ENJOYMENT and EXPRESSION.

In my experience, a competitive focus is rarely as fulfilling or positive as one based on personal growth and expression!

Second: Personal choice and expression.  While I will select the curriculum and instruction trajectory, you do have a say.  If you really enjoy something, tell me! I try to incorporate individual tastes into our experience.

Finally, I think that performance opportunities and exposure to other artists in a supportive and safe environment are important for students.  I encourage students to share their talent with friends and family.  I encourage attending live music performances both locally and outside of the area!
